Sri Lanka, understood
Lanka Lens exists so that visitors understand Sri Lanka, not just photograph it. We tell you the story behind the rock, the reason the temple asks for bare feet, and where the leopard rests in the heat of the day, so that what you see means something to you.
What we make
- Documentaries and Shorts on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and Facebook.
- Guides and courses for before the trip: routes, seasons, etiquette, history and photography.
- Free tools for the trip itself: maps, phrase cards and itineraries.
How we work
- Every fact is checked against a source before it is published, and prices and timetables carry the date we checked them.
- We write in plain English first, so every guide can be translated into German, French, Russian, Chinese and Hindi.
- We do not take commission from hotels or tours. What we recommend is not shaped by where you sleep.
Who writes the guides
The guides are written by Nimal Perera, the pen name of the Sri Lankan writer behind Lanka Lens. A pen name asks you to trust the work, not the person, so every guide shows its sources: each fact links to where it came from, with the date it was checked. How we research explains the method.
